Article Name

[edit]

Isn't there a better title this article could have?--RadioFan (talk) 04:45, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I believe Prince Christian of Denmark and his sister's article was also named with similar manner before their christenings. Though it was widely expected Prince Christian will be named Christian per Danish tradition to name first in lines alternating between frederik and christian. w.tanoto-soegiri (talk) 07:28, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the steps in naming the child and that a definitive name isn't possible at the moment. Guessing at the name seems wrong as well without some good reliable sources to draw upon. Is there anything definitive that could be used for now? Perhaps based on his position in line to the throne?--RadioFan (talk) 11:44, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, the only thing definitive that could be used for now is what we have now - Prince NN of Denmark. The name will remain unknown until he is christened and that will be in about 3 months, I presume. Surtsicna (talk) 17:40, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Is there something specific to the 'NN' portion? Wouldn't Unamed Prince of Denmark be a bit better? The current seems a bit confusing. It could lead some readers to think that the child was named NN for some reason.--RadioFan (talk) 18:12, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you should consider having a vote on the title. In a way, I liked the title of "Unnamed Prince of Denmark", but I also like Prince NN of Denmark. But Prince(ss) NN of Denmark was also applied to his cousins, children of Prince Frederik and Princess Mary. w.tanoto-soegiri (talk) 19:19, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Since only you and I seem to care and you dont seem to have a problem with the suggestion, I'm going to WP:BEBOLD and move it.--RadioFan (talk) 22:19, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Weird story... Is it normal to keep a baby unnamed for three months? Perhaps they do call him some name, don't they? OK, the keep the name in secret, but what did they do with previous generations - this should be known by now, right? NVO (talk) 14:43, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is normal for the Danish royal family. The only definites are the names of the crown prince and his first born son, which alternate between Frederik and Christian, so when his cousin was born, everyone assumed it would be Christian, as it was. But with both of this prince's older brothers and his cousin Isabella, the names are kept private until the official baptism. It's been done this way in the Danish royal family for generations, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but is fairly common practice among Lutherans in Denmark. Update Name as of 26th July

[edit]

As it is now (soon) the 26th July, the article should be updated with the name from the christening, with appropriate sources.

This means moving the article and updating its content, as well as other references to Unnamed Prince of Denmark and Prince NN of Denmark throughout Wikipedia. (However, redirects will continue to work even if these references are not updated.)

It is still 25 July in Denmark, so he is still unnamed. Surtsicna (talk) 13:36, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
