I've started re-writing some section, based on some sources I have on hand (for film, comics, video games, etc.). Pop culture sections are difficult to write and this article currently just lists handfuls of adaptations of Dracula,or casually just lists pseudo-Dracula like vampires or parodies of Dracula in various mediums which isn't really what the article is about. (we'd have hundreds of items related to Dracula in just video games, comics, film and television alone if we tried to list everything). I've tried to making it more of a basic overview of how the Count Dracula character is perceived and his (and sometimes her) character is shown and the major areas in pop culture. I'd be curious to see how others feel about it. Andrzejbanas (talk) 15:15, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've been wanting to completely re-work this article for a long time, but never could get up the energy to fight over it. This needs a lot of cutting to take out the cruft and focus down on the notable uses of Dracula in other media, rather than every "here's a vampire dressed like Bela Lugosi." — The Hand That Feeds You:Bite19:16, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
From the book I used partially as a source, most "Count Dracula" items in popular culture are mostly indept to the Lugosi model (with some leaning more towards Hammer). Very few go back to the book. I've tried to just capture the vibe or when they were done, but like one book said, there's basically a new Dracula reference/pop up in these games. I propose merging Dracula: the Musical into this page. The musical in question is an obscure Swedish adaptation whose corresponding article has no RS and whose notability is questionable. From the overlong plot summary, it looks like a pretty bog standard version of the story, not especially deserving of its own article. Just Another Cringy Username (talk) 06:55, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't even merge honestly, musical adaptations are so small and relatively insignificant and we don't want to mention every musical adaptation of Count Dracula in the article. I'd just push the article for deletion or maybe a re-direct. Andrzejbanas (talk) 10:40, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
oh goody. Well if it exists no sources were added to it, it needs something to stand out for it here, y'know? I'm not saying don't, but it's going to become the most bare of mention here. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:30, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cited in the article as the first portrayal of a homosexual vampire, the essay cited as the source for this does not actually have a reliable source for the existence of the film, with conflicting information on whether or not the film even exists, so may need to be re-written as the film currently seems to be lost media 5.181.59.46 (talk) 19:17, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair points. I'll see if I can dig up any further sources about the title or topic at another point before removing it. If we do remove it, might as well be better to replace it with factual information (if this is indeed wrong) rather than just strip it completely. This author can't be the only academic who took time to write about queer vampires. Andrzejbanas (talk) 19:23, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
