Number of the Ten?
[edit]Goes from 10 to 17 by adding 2 (Doge & (wife?))? I take it there were some other people in here, but not sure whom, or how they got there.
How did they handle Capi's getting sick/dying, or having business elsewhere during their terms?
I assume that Capis rotated, as there were 36 slots to fill during the year, and only 10-15 people to fill them.

- We get 17 by taking the original 10, and adding the Doge (1), plus 6 members of the Signoria of Venice (the Minor Consiglio, if I'm not mistaken).
- I'm not sure if any of the Capi died in office; and anything short of a fatal illness would probably have been considered secondary to the interests of the state.
- Yes, I believe the position rotated.

- I'll have to check Norwich's book but if I remember right they couldn't have other business while sitting on the ten as they were placed under effective house arrest. To be the most powerful member of the Venetian nobility meant the loss of your freedom of movement. Nickjost (talk) 20:51, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Is the second visual aid correct?
[edit]It seems to say "in effect a abinet". I imagine it's supposed to say "in effect a cabinet", right? i kan reed (talk) 00:29, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
Update for the republic governmental structure
[edit]The previous diagram was very inaccurate. The current one is better I think. I tried to take into account the remarks from Hans-Jürgen Hübner on the Signoria of Venice article when he removed the diagram because there were too many mistakes. I am not the one who created the previous diagram, so I had to recreate it completely. Hervegirod (talk) 14:27, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
