Counties – whilst it may be technically true that the CW is in the ceremonial counties of Gloucester & Somerset, these are not footpath authorities (these days)! – have expanded to mention South Glos & BaNES who are the other highway LAs concerned.Linuxlad

Can we avoid travelogue writing please! ('breathtaking views' etc). Linuxlad 20:06, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

Now that the official designation of the CW is getting near (May 24th 2007 I hear), people are getting interested in its history. I've created a 'history' section and posted a piece from Tony Drake's intro to the old Mark Richards Guide of circa 1973. This needs a prune in due course. Map

[edit]

This article would greatly benefit from having a map showing the location & route of the CW. --NigelG (or Ndsg) | Talk 16:55, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have derived a map from OpenStreetMap data, added it to the Wikimedia Commons, and linked it to the article. Neil Hoggarth (talk) 07:00, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The link to google maps doesn't produce anything. The link to bing maps ('only' 200, actually only 10 big spots) is next to useless. The openstreetmap looks a lot better but, as it's just a screen grab, doesn't have any details. Is this really the best that can be done? (OS maps via street map.co.UK or bing should be better but the CW is not well distinguished from other long distance paths like the Gloucestershire way that cross it). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.97.11.54 (talk) 10:36, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Route and points of interest

[edit]

Is there scope for combining the "Places of interest" and "Route and points of interest" sections? Neil Hoggarth (talk) 07:03, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

An external link has been added several times to a web site promoting accommodation close to the Cotswold Way. I have removed the link as promotional spam. If anyone feels it should be included please discuss it here first.— Rod talk 08:54, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the link and it is essentially a referral site. While that in and of itself is not prohibited the site offers no real information on the Cotswolds or the Cotswold Way, only accommodations available therein. It should be excluded on that basis.
