Parents' ethnicities

[edit]

I just undid someone else's edit that added the unsourced claim that Constantinides was raised by Greek parents. My reasons for doubting this claim:

  • I'm a longtime resident of New York City Council District 22 and I recall a campaign mailing for Constatinides that said his father was a Greek Cypriot immigrant, without mentioning his mother's ethnicity at all.
  • I once looked up Constantinides on the City Council's web pages on nyc.gov and found him listed as a member of the Council's Jewish Caucus. Potential reasons for his being Jewish include his father being Jewish, his mother being Jewish, or his converting to Judaism to marry his wife, all of which allow for his mother being Greek. But the possibility remains that his mother is (or was, if she is now deceased) Jewish but not Greek, especially in light of my other reason.
