Maid cafe[edit]Since around 2000, cafes called "maid cafe" have opened in Akihabara, Tokyo. In maid cafes, typical manga-style maids serve tea and cakes. When a guest comes to the cafe, maids say "Welcome home, Master" even if it is the guest's first time there, because the maids play the role of maids belonging to the guest's mansion. Similarly, they say "Have a nice day, Master" when the guest leaves. Maid cafes have become popular, and spread to other cities in Japan, and also in South Korea and Taiwan. Maid fashion[edit]The maid cafe boom has become such a major trend in Japan that the costume is now part of the Tokyo streetstyle fashion.Tokyo Maid goes streetstyle Examples[edit]

Waiters in a butler cafe
[edit]The article claims (or claimed) that there are butler cafes with male butlers. Are there examples of these? This article already links to two all female (i.e. cross dressing) butler cafes, but I haven't heard of a different kind of butler cafe yet. —Tokek 23:42, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Yah I know, and I was the one who actually wrote the butler cafe article - and how the butlers were all females who dressed like males. someone changed it!!!
Broken Link
[edit]Reference 1 is broken, seems the site layout at the website has changed, but this is the link that many other articles on the 'net link to, seems to just have changed their site layout. 00:45, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Emma photo
[edit]I'm afraid the Emma photo, used in this manner does not fall into a valid category of fair use. These policies can be viewed from the image's link. Unless someone refutes this, I intend to remove the link to this image...I should really think that we could find/get better images for this article anyway. -Verdatum (talk) 06:48, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Akihabara image
[edit]why was Image:Akihabara Maids.JPG removed from this page? While it isn't an ideal image, I personally consider it to be more reputable than the image I added of the temporary maid cafe. Without a response, I intend to restore it. -Verdatum (talk) 16:28, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Tsundere Cafe
[edit]I remember reading someting about those- possibly on TV Tropes. The Wikipedia article on Tsundere says that there's one in Akihabara, but that's all I could find for now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.106.97.186 (talk) 07:51, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
popular culture
[edit]I added a section on Cosplay cafes in Popular culture. Are there any more, and are the accurate or nedd more detail?
I'll leave this for everyone else.

related businesses
[edit]There are now also other maid businesses - such as a slew of maid massage places (so far as i know, legitimate ones), at least on izakaya, and a maid eyeglass store. Might be worth adding them together, as it's all more or less the same concept. For now, just adding a mention. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.189.190.199 (talk) 05:25, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
About the Cosplay cafe reference in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Battle Dimensions
[edit]I think in Diamond and Pearl Battle Dimensions, it really was a Cosplay Cafe in the Japanese version. Did they edit it in the American Verison? Please edit the section if you know.
