Prose
[edit]- "When Men try to go there" – wikilink Men in Middle-earth.
- Done.
- "including the world, Arda and its central continent," – I believe it should be "including the world, Arda, and its central continent,"?
- Done.
- Could the quote box be cited?
- Done.
- "The race of the Dwarves" – wikilink Dwarves in Middle-earth.
- Done.
- "These were co-actors" – is there a better word choice available than "co-actors"?
- Reworded.
- Wikilink Christopher Tolkien and unlink his mention in § Planets and constellations.
- Done.
- "during the Music of the Ainur" – this should not be wikilinked as it redirects to Ainulindalë which has already been wikilinked.
- Done.
- "give them immortality." – I think it makes sense to wikilink immortality here.
- Done.
- "are destined to "fade" much more rapidly," – recommend "are destined to "fade" more rapidly,"
- Done.
- "may ultimately go to Heaven" – could Heaven in Middle-earth be expanded upon?
- This is Shippey's thought; Tolkien does not expand upon it (beyond saying the Elves don't know about it).
- "though this is left vague in the Legendarium." – does "Legendarium" have to be capitalised?
- No.
- "So, Shippey asks, did Elves have souls? Since they could not leave the world, the answer seems to be no; but given that they didn't disappear completely on death, the answer had to have been yes." – is quite unencyclopaedic. Rephrase.
- Reworded.
- "as various scholars have commented" – are there too many to name individually?
- Multiple scholars have said very similar things; listing their names won't help the average reader, and for the rare one who needs to know, the citations are right there.
- Does "Elves ("functionally immortal")" need to be cited individually? Ref 7 is already cited in Hierarchy of beings.
- Well, if the rule is "we always cite direct quotations" then yes. And it'd be unsafe to remove the quotation marks.
- "Roman Catholicism, and that of Medieval poetry" – wikilink Roman Catholicism as first mention in the lead.
- Done.
- "that Good and Evil are equally powerful" – are these capitalisations correct?
- Let's try it without.
- "Avakúma is not to be confused with the state of non-being that preceded the creation of Eä." – Avakúma? This is its only mention.
- Avoided.
- I doubt that "Ages of the Stars" and "Great Stars" need to be boldfaced.
- Fixed.
- "Tolkien created Sindarin names for the other" – wikilink Sindarin.
- Done.
Refs
[edit]All sources are RS. Passes spotcheck—no concerns with refs 1, 5, 8, 18, 23 or 29.
- Ref 25 has a strangely formatted archive URL parameter(s).
- Fixed.

- Could WP:ALT text be added at all?
- Added.
