I deleted the original intro mainly because the wording was too similar to the source. However, I am using that same source in addition to more and will include all of the information given in the original Intro, including the homology discussion that is not yet added. In the coming weeks, I will add more sections with corresponding information. Mmilldev (talk) 05:24, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In the upcoming weeks, I hope to add more specifics as to how the signaling process works enabling the cortical reaction and its subsequent effects. I will also introduce other cortical granule functions and types that have been reviewed in more recent scientific literature. Mmilldev (talk) 00:18, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • The citing for this source may need to be improved upon. I don't think you should cite the first sentence with one source, and re-use that source a few sentences down. One suggestion would be to add more information from that source, so there is not a citation every sentence.

Changed Mmilldev (talk) 05:29, 10 May 2015 (UTC), I couldn't easily decrease citations in the intro. but I elaborated more for each source for the rest of the article.Mmilldev (talk) 04:25, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • I believe it should be "and cumulus cells" instead of "then cumulus cells."

  • I am sure you are still looking for a picture, but don't forget!

Changed to paragraph form.Mmilldev (talk)

Comment from Biolprof: The organelle composition section would be greatly enhanced by converting to paragraph form with a complete phrase or sentence about each molecule listed. I added two links in this section, but p32 is an abbreviated form of some molecule and I wasn't sure which one. You may need to check the reference to find the correct link. • May want to consider shortening the introduction section. Many introductions are only a few sentences. Maybe add the rest to a different section.

I agree the intro. should be briefer. Although, after summarizing the sections it ended up to be a similar length.Mmilldev (talk) 04:25, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • May want to link Zona pellucida the first time you mention it and not the second

Changed Mmilldev (talk) 05:29, 10 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Agree with Ayebeesung that the article would benefit from a bulleted list of the organelle composition

  • Indent the area where you describe the ovoperoxidase

  • Maybe add a few more references

  • Add links to further readings on the cortical granule reaction.

  • Overall a great article. Just a little more work and I think you'll be done!

Thanks to everyone for their advice! For future directions, I believe the article should further describe the role of cortical granules in echinoderms, for instance. Mmilldev (talk) 04:25, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the article could benefit from a more detailed image of cortical granules than the current image, expansion on the role of Peptidylarginine deiminase, and expansion on the mechanism by which the cortical granules fuse to the plasma membrane.Mmilldev (talk) 06:02, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
