Proposed deletion
[edit]Can we get a better idea of the reasoning behind the proposed deletion? Thanks. --TrustTruth (talk) 06:29, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- I think I have further established its notability through the past several cite adds. --TrustTruth (talk) 07:42, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
This article has need of citational and factual support
[edit]There is no citation to support the claim of Donald N. Sills as founder or president of this organization. There is no citation to support the claim that the school never offered on-campus classes in Florida. The citation regarding transfer of ownership is a dead link that needs to be updated. The article in question makes no mention of Sills signing over ownership of the college to George Wythe Foundation. --Ibinthinkin (talk) 15:40, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- All of these things could be easily added to the article -- do a simple Google search and you'll find plenty of sources. --TrustTruth (talk) 04:47, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- Whatever sources may or not be available, I simply point out that the sources provided do not say what the article says they say. On the contrary, the link already supplied regarding the history of CRBU names its founders, Sills not being among them, and refers to on-campus classes as part of the offerings. The fact that a cached document from a later period refers to the intent to offer on-campus classes in the near future only serves to indicate there may have been an interruption of that offering somewhere in the intervening period. Also, the "History of GWU" article makes no mention of Sills signing over ownership of GWU from CRBU to GWF, although it is cited as the sole supporting document for this claim.
- The bulk of this article is language supplied by the editor with supposed supporting citations that disagree with the language.
- The structure of the sentence regarding the CRBU website ceasing to exist in late 2001 and the unsubstantiated comment regarding Don Sills' transferring ownership in early 2002 seems to be leading the reader to associate the two activities--the one leading directly to the other. No where in the supporting documentation (or yet anywhere online) is Don Sills mentioned as a principal of CRBU; the implication that he had the prerogative to transfer the operation of the one institution to the other is quite a leap, and an extraordinarily sensational view to be proposing as encyclopedic knowledge.
- As for online sources, I just did a google search on Coral Ridge Baptist University and every link for the first 6 pages was either irrelevant or a circular reference back to WP, Oliver DeMille, or something similar. I saw nothing authoritative or reliable to cite; as a result I am left to draw either or both of two conclusions: 1. CRBU is not notable, and/or 2. We will have to rely on their own word for what we may write about them. If this is yet too sketchy for a quality article here, we should probably consider this subject for speedy deletion. --Ibinthinkin (talk) 15:50, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'e declined the speedy-deletion. This article has already had its PROD (for lack of notability) declined per default of "notable" for this type of subject and there is at least one dissenting opinion in this above discussion. Feel free to make an WP:AfD nomination so more eyes can look for verifiability and notability of the content. DMacks (talk) 18:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

- Ibinthinkin, you won't find much through a Google search because the school went defunct in 2002. Try the Wayback machine (www.archive.org) for www.crbu.net. --TrustTruth (talk) 18:08, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Suggestions for Improving This Article
[edit]1. Lead: The lead sentence should end after 1985-2001[2]. The fragment that follows is unsubstantiated editorializing, and seems to be casting aspersions on the school. If the content is simply a restatement of the fact that CRBU was a bible college, it is redundant and should be removed. If it is intended to give an impression that the school's practices were sub-standard or irregular, it is not backed up with reliable citations that independently make that case, and should be removed.
2. History: The citation which names Donald Sills as a founder of the university is not a reliable source, and contradicts the school's own account. Recommend language be changed to agree with the school's own account from the citation listed in reference #2.
3. History: The language "never offered on-campus classes in Florida" is not established (and seems to be contradicted) by available sources. Recommend this phrase removed. --Ibinthinkin (talk) 13:52, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Dead Links
[edit]There are several dead links, particularly in the notable alumni box. This needs to be remedied--and I think in most cases this should not be a problem.--Ibinthinkin (talk) 05:27, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
