Conflict of interest

[edit]

Hwy43 has stated: the article's creator has indicated he is "on the executive board of this organization and have provided all text and images from the organization's archive." He has a conflict of interest. (talk) 05:15, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

However the Wikipedia definition of this is as follows: "including your business or financial interests, or those of your external relationships, such as with family, friends or employers." Hwy43 should note that Coquitlam Search & Rescue is a certified charity and not-for-profit. I therefore have no business nor financial interests. I am not sure what I would be considered a conflict of interest as you can clearly see there is no promotion of any product or service but instead I am clearly stating the documented facts of the organization. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robertsell (talkcontribs)

WP:COI is not exclusive to just business or financial interests. COI states "COI editing involves contributing to Wikipedia to promote your own interests, including your business or financial interests..." As a member of the executive of the CS&R, it appears this article is an attempt to promote your interest in the CS&R.

If you oppose this article's deletion, I suggest you indicate so at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Coquitlam Search & Rescue. Hwy43 (talk) 05:45, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The word "Interest" here refers to a benefit or gain. What benefit or gain do I get from this? In fact, I am finding Wikipedia is more hassle than it's worth. The Coquitlam SAR post is strictly a factual reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.13.210.98 (talk) 16:27, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
