Copies of Rembrandt
[edit]I am not sure whether or not van Gogh intended to copy specific Rembrandt works for the Angel and Lazarus pictures. So, I said as much just under the heading - and provided examples of paintings illustratively.
Is that approach ok? Any suggestions?--CaroleHenson (talk) 07:34, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
Van Gogh Museum paintings
[edit]Just wondering... Does anyone why paintings are identified as residing at the Van Gogh Museum, but the paintings are not listed in their collection?
I've run across this increasingly lately - especially with most of the "after Millet" paintings said to be at VGM and wonder: where could they be?--CaroleHenson (talk) 07:37, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, the paintings not found at the Van Gogh Museum are easily identified in the article: It's every VGM painting without comments in the right column.--CaroleHenson (talk) 07:45, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- It is possible that those works have not been entered in the museums public data base yet...Modernist (talk) 12:22, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks!

Missing images
[edit]I have spent hours trying to find all the missing images - and there's still a number that are missing. Any ideas about sources other than Wikipedia Commons to obtain images without restrictions?
I somehow got a macro or access to a query engine from WP awhile back to check multiple sites, but I was unsuccessful. User error? unsigned posts
- I wonder why Van Gogh's painting of The Gleaners, done after the famous image by Millet, is not mentioned here at all. The article on The Gleaners by Millet mentions that Van Gogh did copy it, a famous painting, controversial when first done in 1855. I did not realize the painting was first by Millet, as I first (and only) saw the version by Van Gogh, but cannot find it in any of the Wikipedia article on this wonderful artist, Vincent Van Gogh. I added mention of it in the section on Millet in this article, with a comment visible to editors as to why it is not in the list or the count. --Prairieplant (talk) 20:45, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
Information about Millet paintings
[edit]Any thoughts about sources of information for the "after Millet" paintings - I think less popular than some of the others? Thanks!!--CaroleHenson (talk) 03:14, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
