ON-154 or ONS-154? Drutt (talk) 13:14, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Either is correct. ON-154 was the 154th of the ON-series convoys beginning in July of 1941. Alternate convoys of the ON-series were comprised of slower ships (hence the "S"); so the sequence is variously identified as "...ON-151, ON-152, ON-153, ON-154, ON-155..." or "...ON-151, ONS-152, ON-153, ONS-154, ON-155..." or "...ON(F)-151, ON(S)-152, ON(F)-153, ON(S)-154, ON(F)-155..." Slow ships were assigned a separate ONS series beginning with the number ONS-1 in March of 1943. I used the ON-154 title to identify this as the 154th convoy of the original ON series rather than a member of the later ONS-series. Thewellman (talk) 21:06, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see that makes sense. Thank you for your work on this page. Drutt (talk) 05:59, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why was the convoy bringing ammo to NA? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.63.82.163 (talk) 18:35, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hague (p.161) indicates Empire Shackleton carried 2000 tons general cargo including ammunition and aircraft. I speculate the ammunition might have been from old naval inventories for use in ships being operated by Commonwealth forces such as the Canadian Western Local Escort Force based in Halifax Harbour. Did more tables and added pics and maps, the positions of which aren't ideal but the text needs to be revised and expanded with material not available to earlier editors. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 08:49, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone mind If I used sfns, it's the only system I really know? Regards Keith-264 (talk) 08:49, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No problem here It is a better system than the current one. Llammakey (talk) 12:08, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've decided that I want to look in the OH RCN so will have to wait for it to arrive but will tinker with the narrative and citations to shift what I can away from websites to books. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 14:04, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
