This article might be better suited to the Spanish Wikipedia, however most of her film work was done behind the scenes. She only had four acting roles, only one of which was English-based. ArcAngel (talk) 04:18, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
But her influence was felt by students from other-than-Mexico countries, especially the United States. Certainly the Ballet Foklorico co-founding alone should qualify her for inclusion in the American English Wikipedia, as many e.g. Americans who are proud of their Latin ancestry do not necessarily frequent the Spanish Wikipedia and may not even be fluent in the Spanish language; to say nothing of the many dance aficionados whose lack of Latin ancestry does not prevent them from appreciating that world-famous, oft-touring dance company.
Apart from her other accomplishments, I note that in photos of her posted online, some show her in a very Martha Graham-like position. That must have set Mexico on fire, given the times.
Consider also the cultural importance of a woman (well, two actually) in Mexico, mid-20th century, founding such a lasting national institution. While my intent here is not political, I believe it is important nonetheless.MahaloMarlin (talk) 04:48, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding references. Ive removed the refimprove tag as it is now best to address any remaining issues specifically. One thing that could be better documented are the awards. Ideally we have pages for notable awards which would help also to asses new articles for other Mexican artists.--Tikiwont (talk) 09:22, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, Tikiwont. I started discussion about the awards issue, and a connection is going to approach the appropriate body in Mexico to see if they can get a canonical list from a reputable source for the Diosa de Plata awards over the years. I do not know how expedient any reply will be, but I must believe the authorities there will recognize the value of having their complete records more-readily available online.
