- Thanks Auntieruth55. As always, improved by having your fresh pair of eyes look over it. Gog the Mild (talk) 15:00, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- Gog the Mild Lead and text don't agree. Did Zoe not marry him because he was haughty, or did the nobles sink theidea? auntieruth (talk) 14:24, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Auntieruth55: Ah ha. He twice came near to marrying her. In 1028 he was summoned by the emperor - to marry one of the princesses, TBC - and the nobles sank the idea. In 1042, after her second husband had died, Zoe offered him a second chance to become emperor, which he effectively turned down with his haughty demeanour. Hence, in the lead, "he came close to ascending the imperial throne by marriage to the porphyrogenita Empress Zoe (r. 1028–1050) in 1028" and "in 1042, Zoe invited Dalassenos to an audience with a view to marrying him and making him emperor; displeased by his haughty manner she chose a more pliant man". Similarly expanded in the article - but with a lot of text in between. Gog the Mild (talk) 15:50, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- Oi, these Greeks! as bad as the Romans and the Habsburgs. I clarified a couple more spots, otherwise, it's great. auntieruth (talk) 15:12, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
