Happy to review the article. --HistoryofIran (talk) 15:52, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
Assessment
[edit]Lead section
[edit]Life section
[edit]- The lede has info that isn't mentioned in the body of the article, that is Constantine being from the Amorian dynasty. Please include a brief description (doesn't have to be that detailed, as this article is already on the short side) of Constantine's Amorian family in the Life section. Could perhaps tie in to the already mentioned Michael II, who was the first Amorian member to rule the Byzantine Empire? --HistoryofIran (talk) 15:58, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for starting this review @HistoryofIran. I'll begin comments when I get home later today. Unlimitedlead (talk) 16:36, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- @HistoryofIran This has just been done; I believe all comments have been taken care of now. Unlimitedlead (talk) 23:11, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Unlimitedlead: Awesome; this passes the GA review, congratulations on a great article! Let's see if I can manage to close the review without messing it up 😁. --HistoryofIran (talk) 23:28, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your work @HistoryofIran! I'll definitely see you around; I plan on reviewing some of your own GANs over the next few months Unlimitedlead (talk) 23:33, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

- What does "caesar" mean during this period? I'm assuming it's not similar to "emperor/king" anymore. Could you briefly mention what it means to Byzantine-history noobs like me? If it means, say, "commander", then perhaps you could write it like this; "who shortly before this (possibly as early as 831) had been promoted to caesar (commander)." --HistoryofIran (talk) 16:48, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Could the same also be done for "basileus", which I'm assuming still means "emperor" here? Could be something as basic as "still not a formal title, but an honorific interchangeable with basileus, i.e. emperor)." --HistoryofIran (talk) 16:57, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
Notes section
[edit]- Good and valuable info, fits as a note in this instance. --HistoryofIran (talk) 16:43, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
References section
[edit]Is there a particular reason that most of the citations list the name of the author, whilst two (Prosopographie der mittelbyzantinischen Zeit and ODB) do not? --HistoryofIran (talk) 19:06, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Based on my experience at FA, the formatting of the PdmZ and ODB acceptable; I think the reason behind this is that both have their own specialized templates (if you go into the code, you'll see) that are unlike average {{sfn}} templates. Unlimitedlead (talk) 19:29, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
Sources section
[edit]The "Ancient sources" sub-section could use a bit more info. The first "source" is just a link to Constantine VII? --HistoryofIran (talk) 16:35, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- I have just removed that section. Byzantine articles usually have some primary/ancient sources listed, but not always. Unlimitedlead (talk) 19:32, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
