other school boards
[edit]Why are there in the list? conseil scolaire 56 must have an official name. Also, the Ottawa region has both a public and a catholic Board. Most of the articles linked from here are linking to public boards so perhaps that`s where these links should be pointing.
- Conseil scolaires de district 56
- Ottawa-Carleton French-language School Board
Quite a history in the archives here... glad to see that`s quieted down. --Renrenren 01:49, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Questionable recent edit
[edit]Can someone confirm this recent edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Conseil_scolaire_de_district_du_Centre-Sud-Ouest&diff=prev&oldid=172020435
Unfortunately, I don't know if it is true/false, and the person who made it didn't reference any external source.
It is hard to say with a single edit, but I'm afraid I must admit I suspect GST/Wikiwoo/whoever. --Stéphane Charette (talk) 04:00, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- The edit is correct but the tone is questionable. The creation of 12 french school boards was seen as a plus for Ontario because for years the french schools were controled by english school boards. Though factually correct, the tone of the latest edit seems pejorative.--Renrenren (talk) 14:52, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- Considering the personal attack on my userpage after I posted this question, I have decided to revert this edit. I think this is the same GST/Wikiwoo user back to vandalize some more. If someone wants to re-write it using a neutral tone of voice, and hopefully link to an ouside source, it would be greatly appreciated. --Stéphane Charette (talk) 07:13, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
The following block from JoanOfArc2 has been reverted. Can someone knowledgable in this area please clean it up so it dovetails better into the article?
The board was created January 1st, 1998 when the Government of Ontario, under the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party accepted recommendations to create 12 new French School Boards across Ontario.[1]. This is of historical significance since the Conservativies elimitated 114 other public school boards in that major restructuring of public education in Ontario. As part of that restructuring Ontario went to a per student funding formula [2]. and as a result this school is operating at a deficit each year (i.e., $12K Spent vs. $8.5K Funded per student in the 2005-06 school year). This not only creates problems for this school board and its students but also for others in educational service businesses who must suffer the consequences of under funded educational spending, such as not getting paid for services performed.
The above block text looks factual and simpathetic to the school boards need for more funding. What's the exact problem with it? Maybe an edit is in order. We should not be blocking and banning people trying to contribute to Wikipedia to change the world. CDSCSO2 (talk) 15:30, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Strange that an author with no contribs shows up and makes a comment to support an edit which is not on subject. Coincidence? --Renrenren (talk) 17:31, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- There are few people like me on Wiki that post with a different user name each time to avoid persecution for trying to constribute to changing the world. It's tough business trying to make a difference. Too many people are hooked on the status quo and don't like change. Change is not alway good but it is always different and advances mankind. If it was not for changes caused by individuals who cared enough to contribute to everyone's wellbeing we would still be in the stone age.CDSCSO3 (talk) 18:58, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- To be perfectly honest, it's gotten to the point with editing this page that it's not worth the hassle anymore. You can keep changing your username all you want. The fact that it's the same editor doing the same repetitive changes is quite obvious to myself as I'm sure it will be to the admins when they take the time to visit this page. Your edits as I've stated DO NOT belong on a school board page. You are turning this into a huge controversy. It's not. THis is YOU being upset that they cut school boards. At some point, you'll have to get off your soapbox and get over it. I'm sure there are conspiracy theorists who agree with you. I don't. I still don't believe your edits would pass NPOV. I'm just trying to keep the page accurate and you keep trying to fill it with disinformation. So be it. --Renrenren (talk) 20:57, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Note that I have no interest in re-becoming a regular wikipedia contributor again. I was only here temporarily to check on a few things. --Stéphane Charette (talk) 02:01, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- I would keep the 1st sentence and nothing else. Everything else does not respect NPOV. THis is clearly a disgruntled editor, back to try and drudge up some old wounds. Perhaps the editor in question should create a new article on Public Education funding in Ontario or Public education controversy. Surely, none of the information that JoanofArc2 should be in an article about a school board as the info goes beyond the scope of said article.--Renrenren (talk) 03:17, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- I just reverted the last 2 edits:
in the historical restructuring of the entire public education system that eliminated 114 other public school boards across the province and fixing provincial funding at a per student basis regardless of cost.
- I agree you've toned it down with this most recent edit. But here is the thing with this text -- is it specific to CSDCSO? No. Is it relevant to CSDCSO? Only marginally. The obvious thing to consider, is that it is as relevant to CSDCSO as it is to all the other school boards in Ontario. How does that make CSDCSO the right place to include this text? The right place to include this might be to see what articles link to places like List of Ontario school boards. Another avenue might be articles like Education in Ontario or Ministry of Education (Ontario). I suspect from your non-NPOV edits, however, that your edits will be rejected there as well unless you can tone down the anti-French and/or anti-government stance. --Stéphane Charette (talk) 00:31, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
