This film does NOT take place in Central City

[edit]

Whoever keeps adding Central City into this and other entries from the Planet of the Apes films is just plain wrong. Central City is not from the movies--it's from the TV show. This film takes place in California, at the Ape Management Complex. That information was corrected, but someone else came and put back the Central City bits--which are wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rassmguy (talkcontribs) 01:16, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Nowhere in the movie or any official transcript do they specify the name of the city in Conquest... It's called "The Forbidden City" in Battle... but I doubt that's what it was called before the nuclear holocaust. "Central City" is a name exclusive to the TV series and refers specifically to the Ape's city. However, there's nothing to imply that the Command Post is the same division as Ape Management. Though not specified, I would imagine the Command Post oversees all other executive divisions of the government including Ape Management, Riot Control, etc. 20.132.64.141 (talk) 19:54, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Sculldog[reply]

Does the original ending footage still exist?

[edit]

Haven't seen it on any recent Conquest DVD's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.2.90.61 (talk) 14:04, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes--the original ending will be out this Fall on a special Blu-Ray release. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.122.210.59 (talk) 23:32, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning up the Paradox Section

[edit]

The Paradox section reads terribly and needs to be re-organized. Also, it doesn't address the fact that in Zira and Cornelius's interrogation in Escape..., they maintain that an ape named Aldo (not specifically a gorilla) says "No." four hundred years after the plague arrives on Earth. Either that history was also fabricated without them knowing or the birth of Caesar had accelerated the ape revolt by four centuries. Also, there are two apes named Aldo in Conquest...: The chimpanzee being beaten by police in the beginning and the gorilla beating Governor Breck at the end - who presumably becomes General Aldo in Battle.... It should be reflected that these are two seperate apes. In any case, "the class is ended! The schoolroom is closed! Now we go back to riding HORSES!!!" 20.132.64.141 (talk) 19:47, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Sculldog[reply]

It certainly needs cleaning. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.169.192.50 (talk) 11:26, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is NOT an alternate history film

[edit]

Per the wikipedia article on alternate history:

"Science fiction set in what was the future but is now the past, like Arthur C. Clarke's 2001: A Space Odyssey or Nineteen Eighty-Four , are not alternate history because the author has not made the conscious choice to change the past." ( Steven H Silver. "Uchronicle". Helix. Retrieved 2009-05-26.) --216.31.124.206 (talk) 21:25, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The city where the apes are held is also the same place shown in the original Star Trek series, episode 29 of the first season. The episode was named Operation Inialation

[edit]

Please help me figure out this location where the building is the same production site as Star Trek season 1: episode 29 Operation Inialation 67.4.74.180 (talk) 05:58, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The name of the Star Trek episode is 'Operation -- Annihilate!'. The filming location is noted in the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_--_Annihilate!#Production . Conquest was filmed at UC Irvine (https://www.orangecoast.com/stuff-we-love/uc-irvine-as-backdrop-for-apes/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CConquest%20of%20the%20Planet%20of,futuristic%20architecture%20of%20both%20places) and Century City.
