Comments
- Lead has "movable Deck-girder Scherzer" but "Deck-girder" (a) need not be capitalised unless Deck is a proper noun, and (b) Deck-girder is not subsequently mentioned.
- Also consider linking bascule bridge in the lead and in the article. Or (although it's a little corny), you could include File:MovableBridge draw.gif here to explain what a "double-leaf bascule bridge" is and how it functions.
- Done No animation, not really accurate and it is intrusive. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:33, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- Do we not have a date for opening? If not it may still be reasonable to add 1911 (completed) in the info box.
- I know the article is about a bridge, but in the one paragraph lead, bridge is mentioned nine times (and Bridgeport twice), somewhat repetitive.
- I tried to resolve that a bit, but its rather difficult in some places. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:33, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- Is it the "City of Bridgeport" or the "city of Bridgeport"?
- Done City of Bridgeport as an acting body.ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:33, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- " oversee the construction of a bridge at Congress Street" could you explain why this bridge was needed in this street, for the benefit of non-experts (like me!).
- Historically, I got little on a precise reason. A more modern answer is that it diverts flow from a business center and that negatively impacts the area. Many bridge's were built without really strong reasons, but many have become the backbone of transportation - far exceeding their intended lifespans and traffic volume. In my own town we have two bridges to bypass a quarter mile of the city and it runs parallel to a railroad bridge that is very rusted yet still operational. Does it make sense, no, but proper city planning was and is still rarely a forethought. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:40, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- "it did not require high-stress pivot bearings, but it does" odd mix of tenses.
- "The cost of constructing the bridge was $300,000" would be equally straightforward to say "The cost of construction was $300,000..."
- "The cost ... and its costs..." reads repetitively and a little odd to me.
- "both street car, vehicles" street cars?
- Really? You don't know what a street car is? You might call it a "Tram" in the UK. Out west they call it a Trolley Car. I linked it... but I don't know what else to do. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:33, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- It was more to do with the plural really, I've been on a few street cars! The Rambling Man (talk) 08:09, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

- "the bridge's closing" closure.
- What's the "CT Post"?
- Ref 3 -> The New York Times.
- Other published works should be in italics, e.g. Hartford Courant.
- Also need to be consistent, is it The Hartford Courant or just Hartford Courant?
- Done I kept putting the "publisher" instead of "work" in the box, but it is without the "The" in the name. This gets me with "The New York Times" though. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:33, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- Is Category:Bridges in Connecticut required when you already have Category:Bridges in Fairfield County, Connecticut?
- Removed. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:33, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
Not too far off, I'll put the article on hold for a week. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:27, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
