- ... that the Condescending Wonka is one of the most popular internet memes? Source: https://digitalcommons.unl.edu/commstuddiss/40/ page 176 refers to it as "As one of the most popular networked memes". There is also https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/top-ten-memes-all-time-ever-most-popular-kermit-gangnam-style-a7707336.html but I couldn't locate the cited study, and I am a bit worried that the later source is a hoax. But given all the other academic sources, I think the claim and the hook is correct.

- Comment: The image is fair use and we cannot use it (which is quite ironic considering everyone on the Internet and their dog can, but - shrug, we have our own rules... can probably make a meme about this, lol).
