?identification of concluding folk-song reference
[edit]Sometimes it's suggested that the refernce is to "Ca the Yowes tae the Nowes" - has this ever been ruled out?Delahays (talk) 18:06, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
In fact there does seem to be fairly widespread agreement that "Ca the Yowes" is an important element in the slow movement - in which another is the slow monement of Beethoven's F minor string quartet. Might it be that the big tune coda of the finale is also based on "Ca the Yowes" as well as Beethoven?Delahays (talk) 18:32, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
