Request of Sources

[edit]

Please either provide some reliable sources for his year of birth, or just remove it. I don't believe he was born in 927. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.247.27.221 (talk) 14:03, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding "requests" please remember that wikipedia is supposed to be a collaborative medium and that identifying your participation is very helpful. I have added a link to the English language article on Hoel which contains info on Guerech. There is material there. Note that some of the info on Dukes of Brittany comes from English sources and resides mostly in supporting articles from English language wikipedia and others comes from French wikipedia.

regarding his birth date.....It only appears in the succession box. If you have a better date with reliable sources please provide it. Just because you "don't believe it" doesn't mean it should be removed. Rather, if you are skeptical the right thing to do is to discuss further here and when various contributors have the time, they will try to address the issue with greater specificity. We should leave it as is for now, in my opinion. You can provide a more detailed discussion, while identifying yourself, here on on my TALK page for this article. Thank you. Layout problems

[edit]

See also section comes before notes/refs. see WP:ORDER in the Manual of Style. "A bulleted list, preferably alphabetized, of internal links to related Wikipedia articles. Portal [singular] and Wikipedia books links are usually placed in this section"—see WP:SEEALSO. Multiple portals unnecessarily clutter the article and conventionally only one, the principal portal, is used. Besides, most are linked internally. The tags I just added to the lead will hopefully provide time to support these claims in the body of the article with quality source citations as per WP:REFB. Lastly, brief vacancies between counts and other officeholders during this period was not unusual. Bearpatch (talk) 19:54, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Did he defeat his father?

[edit]

So Conan I "was the son of Judicael Berengar, succeeding his father as Count of Rennes in 970. ... Conan I had to ally himself with the Odo I, Count of Blois in order to defeat Judicael Berengar." So did he go into battle against his father and defeat him in battle? Or was this one of the other persons named Judicael? Jeff in CA (talk) 17:27, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Conan I did join in the defeat of JB according to the cited source, so apparently, yes, he did (though the source does not make the relationship explicit). Agricolae (talk) 19:02, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
