Wegman as the coiner of the term "Computational Statistics"

[edit]

According to Edward Wegman#Career Wegman coined the phrase "computational statistics." Either this article needs to credit him with the origin of its name or give some reason why it should not. --Vaughan Pratt (talk) 10:08, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If there are independent reliable sources for this, please add it. The reference given in Edward Wegman#Career is from the website of his former university, so not independent, and does not itself give a source for where and when he first used the phrase. History Section

[edit]

Whilst perusing the page, I took the liberty to add some content in the history section, and I wanted to create this section as forum for us to arrive at a consensus as to what information is relevant, and what may be deemed extraneous. There is certainly work required, and we can discuss it here. Akdulj (talk) 00:43, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
