word for whale
[edit]"Kwénis, which means "whale" immediately struck me as "quanice" the usual Chinook Jargon rendering of the word in that argot for "whale"......I'm not sure of its origins, could be Nooktan/Southern Wakashan but if it's from the Chehalis language, as many CJ words are, could be that the Comox word was similar; but also CJ words are now pervasive in some local languages and not recognized as such; just a note, no bearing on the article.....Skookum1 (talk) 10:04, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
