Use of [sic] in quote?

I think the use of [sic] in the quote on this page feels judgmental/casts the speaker in a negative light. While I agree that 'based off of' is redundant, it's common enough in everyday speech that I feel calling attention to it with [sic] when it's not a flagrant error feels fussy to me. Agreed – " [sic]" can be useful when the original is likely to be unclear or misleading, but in this case the original is clear enough that adding it distracts rather than clarifies. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 16:41, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
