Article needs Major Overhaul and Maintenance
For an agency as important as the CFTC overseeing $37 trillion U.S. futures, as well as $300 trillion U.S. swaps market, this article gets incredibly little discussion (on this page) and care.
First, Its not up-to-date. Second,it's short but quite incomplete, and yet contains a lot of blah blah (list of commissioners), is not succinct. Third It lacks structure under the headings, seems like a quilt of anecdotes. I see no reason to put a list of all commissioners on teh wikipedia article, since they are all on the CFTC website, leave alone all their biographies; it would crowd up thE site meaninglessly. Fourth, the site has excessive wiki-hyperlinks. Some parts are copied from the CFTC website/ sound almost like propaganda. E.g. Under the section "evolving responsibilities" the 3rd sentence is a mouthful of repetitions of ensure and assure and ensure.
There needs to be a new section on CFTC funding/budget.- a 177 page report for FY 2013 exists http://www.cftc.gov/ucm/groups/public/@newsroom/documents/file/cftcbudget2013.pdf E.g. the CFTC’s performance is severly affected by the challenges of limited resources. the commission is so underfunded that its forced to delay cases (WSJ 11/1/13). there needs to be info on its politics. E.g. the politics are alluded to under Born, but they continue in 2013 with the exit of highly capable people like enforcement chief David Meister, and the nomination of questionably apt Timothy Massad as CFTC chief, who is a "complete blank on C&D and Dodd Frank" (WSJ 11-10-13).Wuerzele (talk) 07:11, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
