Merge
[edit]I have merged this page with Governor-General of Australia, as there is no office of commander-in-chief in Australia. Instead, the command-in-chief of the military is vested in the governor-general as one of their constitutional duties. For analogy, there is no office of royal assent, president of the executive council or minister commissioner, these are just some of the roles of the GG. If there are enough sources to justify a separate page, a broader one equivalent to Powers of the president of the United States may be appropriate instead. Safes007 (talk) 07:10, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
Merge with Governor-General of Australia Military role section
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion was consensus to merge the article. Redirect without copying content as per ITBF. Issues exist with source page content WP:V. Melbguy05 (talk) 09:02, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
I propose that Commander-in-Chief (Australia) article be merged into the Governor-General of Australia#Military role section for the reasons given above by Safes007. Melbguy05 (talk) 15:36, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Support. I note there is little content that would need to be preserved in a merger so possibly a simple redirect would suffice. At a cursory glance some of the claims in the article are not supported by the sources and the infobox appears to have just been copied from the main GG article (with some errors such as claiming the Commander-in-Chief is appointed by the GG). - Support, for the reasons given above. Safes007 (talk) 03:59, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
