History?
[edit]What is the history of this rank? I was told it only came about after/during the Vietnam war. --Hooperbloob 21:00, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Not needed
[edit]Much of this information, and much, much more can be found at Master chief petty officer. Recommend combining the two. 98.101.227.58 (talk) 02:06, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
Red chevrons?
[edit]Is it possible for a CMC to have red stripes? I've heard stories, but have never actually seen one. – Illegitimate Barrister, 04:47, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
Update on policy for assigning billeted Command Master Chief to FFG7 OHP Class ships
[edit]In 1997, the policy changed in that FFG7 manning was updated to include a billeted full time(non-collateral duty) Command Master Chief. I reported to USS McInerney FFG8 in Mayport FL in June 1997 as the first billeted CMC. Served June 97-June 2000. 2600:1700:5AF3:2040:5453:5C48:B5D7:7FB8 (talk) 18:09, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
