References, help

[edit]

I'm not an ichthyologist, nor do I speak Russian. Heck, I know nothing about fish. However, I figured this poor fish deserved some attention. Could someone put together an infobox and check my facts? I'm really not certain about everything in the article, and I'm not sure I understood all of my references. Thank you! Captainktainer * Talk 21:16, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, same here, unfortunately. I just added a new reference (the ScienceDirect one), but I can only read the abstract. I'm confused by how the lipid content is divided up into body, muscles and liver, and am unsure about my use of the term "body weight" which might be taken to refer to the whole fish. Also according to that source, Comephorus dybowski has much less oil content than baicalensis, which puzzles me - does it live as deep? Does it melt in the sun? Is it really similar? I don't know. Fish name meaning

[edit]

In a previous edition it was written "Golomyanka (lit. fat fish)". In russian zhir fat /riba fish, (hence Рыбий жир Cod liver oil). Golomya means nude, naked. Michalis Melidonis (talk) 17:10, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
