[edit]What year was COGAG first used? Trekphiler (talk) 03:09, 20 June 2008 (UTC) Perhaps 1962- Russian Kashin class Destroyers. Although not listed I think many US class combatants are COGAG - Spruance Class destroyers, Ticonderoga Class Cruisers, OHP class frigates. Also several unlisted Russians class ships are COGAG - Kasin DDG, Kara class cruisers, Udaloy class destroyers. Slava class Cruisers. pardon my laziness lacking links - But I have checked several and the page lists it as COGAG. Wfoj3 (talk) 23:51, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
COGLAG is being built now and COGLOG was also considered. New Section or Page needed?
[edit]I read about COGLAG being built into the latest Japanese Destroyer, the Asahi Class. Apparently there is also a competing system called the COGLOG. The COGLAG seems to be preferred and according to this paper from a USN officer, it would work well in future versions of the DDG-51.[1]
The COGLAG is referenced three times in WIKI now! Once in the Atago Class "Design" section (paragraph eight with a dead Link), and twice in the List of active Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force ships "Future..." section (paragraphs one and seven, the latter also with a dead Link).
Since the existing Atago Class already has a COGLAG system and the Asahi Class is being built with a COGLAG system for commissioning in 2018, it is probably time for a new WIKI page.
One nice thing about the article I referenced from MIT is that it includes the needed diagram (for COGLAG). It is also only part of a more extensive article, which may go into COGLOG as well. Furthermore, it seems to be an open source!
(Note: this weblink opens automatically in an Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader page. If it does not work immediately, just cut-and-paste to the address line in your browser because the link requires the final "COGLAG.pdf" (WIKI seems to move this part out) as part of the address line in your browser!)
