Full name

[edit]

It's Franck R. Columbo, the middle name is Robert. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E35:8A8D:FE80:9114:58E2:309F:2A34 (talk) 05:53, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It makes no sense to say that his name has never "officially" been given when the same sentence goes on to say that his name has appeared on props in several episodes of the show. I presume the intended meaning is that his name has never been said in dialogue, but in that case why not just say so? And there is no rule that a character's name only counts if it's said in a line, but not if it appears on a prop. It seems to be excessively cautious: let's just say his name is Frank. The writers said themselves that the prop team just picked a random name, and that they overstepped their bounds. The "official" word, from Link & Levinson is that Columbo is his full name. DFlhb (talk) 18:06, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It was proposed (by another other) that both images of Columbo's badge and ID be deleted because a text description would suffice. See talk pages for the two images: File:Lt_Columbo_Badge_in_Death_Hits_The_Jackpot.jpg and File:Columbo-Signature2-bright.PNG. Xanthis3 (talk) 21:44, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kate Mulgrew and Mrs. Columbo - age query

[edit]

There seems to be a bit of inconsistency across article about how old Kate Mulgrew was at the time of Mrs. Columbo. Here it states "Mrs. Columbo starred Kate Mulgrew as the mystery-solving wife of Lt. Columbo. The show initially made clear this was intended to be the wife of Lt. Columbo, despite clear contradictions with descriptions of Mrs. Columbo on the original series (Mulgrew was 24 at the time, which would have made her 13 in 1968 when Columbo began)". However the Mrs. Columbo article states "Mulgrew was aged only 23 when the first season was broadcast (and perhaps younger still when it was filmed), meaning that when Columbo originally premiered in 1968, the detective was married to a 12-year-old who immediately conceived a daughter". Mrs Columbo was first broadcast on 26 February 1979 with the first season of 5 episodes concluding on 29 March. Kate Mulgrew's article gives her date of birth as 29 April 1955, making her 23 at the time of broadcast, so I think the ages given here are wrong. Also the first season of Columbo was in 1971 - what was broadcast in 1968 was a one off episode that effectively proved to be the pilot of the series. Thus it seems it would be correct to say Mulgrew would have been 12 when the first episode of Columbo was broadcast (In February 1968). Dunarc (talk) 15:02, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Trimmed article

[edit]

I removed a significant amount of the original article (about 38k bytes) because it was overly detailed WP:FANCRUFT and mostly presented from an in-universe perspective. The character's biography section only needs a small amount of information, so I edited the page to focus less on in-universe info and more on real-world info like the character's creation and reception. I'm just leaving this message here to let people know in case somebody wonders what happened to the page. Di (they-them) (talk) 13:34, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
