[edit]could use some work on the neighborhood history
could use better photos
could use a fuller description of the neighborhood's cultural assets, businesses and landmarks
perhaps a notable people who live in the neighborhood section? (are there any??)
what else? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.58.73.195 (talk) 01:59, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I've done some of this, but notable people! Yes, who are they? --Mujalifah (talk) 00:00, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Dubious Claim About Crime in Columbia City
[edit]I added [citation needed] for the claim that crime in Columbia City is “rare, by big city standards.” What are “big city standards”? More importantly, it would appear that this claim is demonstrably false.
Columbia City is near the intersection of three zip codes: 98144, 98108, and 98118. According to [1], the average of total crime for these three zip codes is 97 percent higher than the national average – that’s almost double. According to [2], Seattle, a “big city”, has a total crime rate 49 percent higher than the national average. In absolute terms, Columbia City’s crime rate is thus 48 percent higher than big city Seattle’s average.
Even if you only include 98118, in which the very center of Columbia City is located, total crime is 76 percent higher than the national average, and 21 percent higher than big city Seattle.
How is this at all conducive to the claim that crime in Columbia City is “rare, by big city standards”? Please define “big city standards,” and provide data contrasting Columbia City crime with those standards. Otherwise, it would be advisable to revise the entry to reflect the area’s apparent relative high crime, or just drop the claim altogether.--Chipdouglas (talk) 00:38, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Agreed, removed. --Mujalifah (talk) 23:58, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
Demographics
[edit]Would be great to add demographic section. What are the relevant census tracts for Columbia City? If I know, we could use that to give a picture of the cultural composition of the neighborhood. --Mujalifah (talk) 00:00, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
