The article gives 1772. Someone has claimed it is 1764. The Waterloo Rollcall source evidently gives it, but the link takes you to the start.John Pack Lambert (talk) 02:37, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A 1764 birth would have made him a ridiculously old ensign, at 29 years of age, when he joined the army. Most ensigns were under 20, 29 would be a very late age to start any profession in the period. Urselius (talk) 04:59, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
