First reading

[edit]

In general, this article is well-written and comprehensive. Just a few points to bring up:

  • "They described forms of mimicry in butterflies that now carry their names." - This sounds as if the butterflies bear their names.
Reworded. Chiswick Chap (talk) 11:44, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Inspired by On the Origin of Species, ..." - This sentence could do with rephrasing, with the meaning of "in each place" being unclear.
Reworded. Yeah, local has a different sense in local anaesthetic and local pub! Chiswick Chap (talk) 11:47, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Natural selection at work: ptarmigan changes colour from winter snow camouflage to disruptively patterned in summer." - This image caption could be grammatically improved.
Tweaked. Chiswick Chap (talk) 11:52, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reference 8 has a different author format from other citations.
Fixed. Chiswick Chap (talk) 11:42, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

GA criteria

[edit]

It is a pleasure to review your GANs because they are always well laid out and of high quality. This one meets the GA criteria on prose, grammar, structure and layout. The referencing is to reliable sources and the format of the citations is consistent. The article is neutral, stable and covers the subject well. The images are well chosen, suitably licensed and appropriately captioned. Well done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:10, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
