[edit]Colony-forming units can also refer to fungal growth counts, and not just bacterial or archeal growth count. There seem to be two revisions here, when I log in, I'm shown the correct definition that includes fungal growth, but otherwise it is removed from the "master" list. Any thoughts?

Cell numbers and CFU
[edit]Hi all, I've made some minor changes, some of them related to the assumption in the previous version that what all microbiologists really want is the number of viable cells in a sample, for which CFU gives an estimate (or rather, usually an underestimation). However, CFU is a metric in its own right. CFU count can be more meaningful than viable cell count, depending on what you are trying to find out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Magic77wand (talk • contribs) 13:05, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your edits! Just a heads up, the minor edits button is misleadingly named and should only be used for things like spelling and punctuation corrections, fixing layout errors, and adding wikilinks. Help:Minor edit has more detail about when it's okay to use. CambrianCrab (talk) 18:13, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
