[edit]"It should be noted that he is not a teacher in the conventional sense, but rather a "guest lecturer."' Why? This part is largely irrelevant because it only serves as mal-intentioned speculation that a school board would not find McCarthy fit for teaching. The school offers the class because it is a subject the school wants to offer, and they only have to pay a minimal extra salary to the host teacher. 208.59.171.97 21:12, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Fightindaman- I've personally heard him say the quote you removed (I know that doesn't count on Wikipedia because it's original research), but if anyone's curious, that's the kind of circular answer he gives if you ask him about his religion. 208.59.171.97 21:21, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Colman McCarthy was the best teacher I ever had. It should be noted that any school is lucky to have him.(He taught me for a semester at The Washington Center.)
"Why are we violent but not illiterate? Because we are taught to read."
I'm pretty sure the quote that I pasted above was from a student he had. Not a big deal; just think we ought to give credit where credit is due, and all that. I do love Mr. McCarthy's writings though, truly inspiring works.
