Skiing
[edit]It should be noted that Collingwood has the best downhill skiing in southern Ontario, if not all of Ontario. {unsigned|131.137.245.198}
- Skiing is already mentioned, and the Blue Mountain (Resort) is linked. Slowmover 17:43, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Ethanol
[edit]There is now a full production ethanol plant in Collingwood that is causing quite a concern. The new plant emits a terrible odor and is causing noise pollution. The plant is owned by Blackstone Energy Inc, and its primary customer is Petro Canada. fred 04:03, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Despite substantial fines in 2009, and a three-week shutdown of the Collingwood Ethanol plant (now renamed to Amaizeingly Green), there continue to be hundreds of complaints filed with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. To date (Jan. 2010), no improvement has been observed in this plant's odour abatement initiative. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mlaurencg4 (talk • contribs) 00:30, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
Cook and Geddes
[edit]It appears to me that the most recent reference added (that has subsequently been removed) in an attempt to substantiate the presence of Cook and Geddes in the 'famous persons' list, does in fact support a connection between the two gentlemen and the community of Collingwood. What should be decided here on the talk page, is whether or not these two men are "notable" enough according to our policies to be included. I believe the only fair way to do that is to attempt to arrive at a consensus through discussion. Comments from other editors are invited. cheers Deconstructhis (talk) 15:40, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- I would say "not even close". Neither has an article yet. If they can't meet the notability guidelines for an article, they're not notable enough for a list like this. PKT(alk) 16:12, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I would disagree with this. i think they should be added the the page having been responsible for 3 Movies that have made local newspapers. and we should be more then proud to have them on our list. keeping in mind Scarce was not a big hit. It was still quite a undertaking. More so then say Drew Wright who only had 15 min of fame on a TV show and then dropped off in to nothingness and Jason Arnott who was Born and Raised in WASAGA BEACH not Collingwood What HockeyDB says is wrong. Movies like Monster Brawl do out soon. contains a notable cast of people Including Dave Foley , Keven Nash , Jimmy Hart. I think they have paid there dues and deserve there Names on the list —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.135.105.34 (talk) 19:30, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Railway
[edit]The Railway between Collingwood and Barrie is not a walking trail, atleast not yet. It is at the moment in the process of being decommisioned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.114.25.212 (talk) 14:12, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Chess Capital OF Canada
[edit]Canada hosts several hundred chess tournaments each year. The annual chess tournament held on the first weekend in May in Collingwood sets itself apart in unique ways. Before the start of play, the participants are welcomed in person by the mayor of Collingwood herself, Yvonne Hamlin. The Saturday games are followed by a lavish cocktail party, which features a violin and piano concert. In addition to an attractive prize fund, organizers Milan Somborac and Rosi Smith provide a range of draw prizes from gift certificates to exclusive chess art. Can Collingwood call itself the Chess Capital of Canada. Why not? Milansomborac (talk) 15:34, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
