Inconsistency
[edit]The article's history is not entirely clear; mention is made of a prior structure on the same site (by the same name?) but only the current building's history is outlined. However, despite the current building being opened in 1950, this site is noted as the home of the Quebec Bulldogs from 1910-1920. If anyone can expand on this, please feel free. Title / Language
[edit]There seems to be some inconsistency in the first sentence of the article. It says "Colisée Pepsi (English: Pepsi Coliseum), formerly the Colisée de Québec (English: The Quebec Coliseum)...". However, this is the English Wikipedia. Thus, if the names, in English, really are/were "X Coliseum", then the name of this article should be "Pepsi Coliseum". Alternately, if it's called "Colisée Pepsi" in English (we use all sorts of foreign-origin names in English - we don't call the Autobahn "the Car Road"), then the first sentence should not say (English: ) - because its name, in English, should be the title of the article already! Looking at the English version of their own website (http://www.expocite.com/www/colisee-pepsi.php), it appears that they call it the "Pepsi Coliseum" when they're speaking English. That's a strong argument, but there may be other, more important sources. If it turns out that "Pepsi Coliseum" is far more prevalent in English, then we should change the title of the article. I'll do that in a few days if no one replies to this, or if there are only messages of support. Otherwise, let's talk about it. Cheers, AshleyMorton (talk) 02:29, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
- Huh - well, I placed this note here a year and a half ago, and got no response. I've done some digging, and can only come up with sources that call it the "Coliseum" or the "Pepsi Coliseum". Lacking contradictions, let's move this to "Pepsi Coliseum". AshleyMorton (talk) 22:31, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Colisée Pepsi → Colisée de Québec – With the site abandoned and soon to be demolished, there's no longer any reason to keep this at the sponsor name over the common non-sponsor name. See also Talk:Astrodome#Direct RM, a similar case from six years ago. Alternatively, this can be moved to Quebec Coliseum, the English form of the name. O.N.R. (talk) 09:15, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
- Support, although not exactly for reason nom offered. It's more that this stadium was most relevant when it hosted an NHL franchise, and during that time it was known as Colisée de Québec. Its time as Pepsi was when it hosted a junior hockey team which is far less significant (barring something really unusual). If for some reason the time was reversed (i.e. if it was known as Colisée Pepsi when it hosted the Nordiques) then it'd be the other way around, so this vote shouldn't be taken as a blanket endorsement of removing sponsor names.
