Premier-Designate
[edit]Hello all. Just a reminder that Mr Barnett is not the Premier yet. Until he is officially sworn in by the Governor he is the 'Premier-designate'. This is what we did after the Federal election.Doktor Waterhouse (talk) 03:51, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Who has designated him? Some argue he is the PM/Premier-elect, and it is a furphy to say that's what we did after the 2007 election. People kept changing between the two. Timeshift (talk) 03:52, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- My bad, 'elect' is correct.Doktor Waterhouse (talk) 03:56, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Who elected him? With a minority government he's basically waiting for the Nationals to sponsor him, to convince the Governor to designate him as the Premier. - Mark 04:01, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- The public elected the parliament the way it did, and the way parliament fell was in Barnett's favour as the next Premier. Timeshift (talk) 04:02, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Either way, I think we can agree that he shouldn't be referred to as Premier until he's sworn in. - Mark 04:04, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- I have no qualms with Premier-elect. Timeshift (talk) 04:07, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, just some people (including in the media - see the headline on WA today) are over-eager in declaring that Barnett is now Premier. Which is plainly wrong. - Mark 04:10, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- My intention with this was to highlight the fact that he is not the Premier until officially sworn in. As long as we have something there to distinguish it then I think we're golden.Doktor Waterhouse (talk) 04:16, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

The Cabinet is to be sworn in on Tuesday 23rd of September, just so everyone knows. Doktor Waterhouse (talk) 09:59, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
the link for reference #28 is broken. Does anyone know where it should point? Thank you

- 28 "ABC News" seems fine. But footnote numbers may change as the article is edited... Did you mean the http://westernpatriot.com.au link? It's currently dead, and I've tagged it as such.

Premier
[edit]Hi all
A reminder that Barnett is still Premier until McGowan's government is sworn in. Haven't seen a date yet but should be within the week - see Kevin Rudd for example - Rudd's time in office ended on the 18th of September, with the election being on the 7th.
Until his government is sworn in, Barnett is Premier, and McGowan is Premier-elect. AGTWSAWSPE (talk) 03:22, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
Post political life
[edit]Needs development of Mr Barnett's post political career. TVil93 (talk) 05:19, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
- The whole article needs some development really. Alas, that's the nature of Wikipedia. Most articles can do with improvements. Steelkamp (talk) 07:39, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
