Edit request: remove the word "currently"

The use of the word "currently" is bad writing and not appropriate for an encyclopedia. Wikipedia should be specific and avoid vague time words, so please either remove the word currently or rephrase to use a specific time (such as "since 2016"). I realize many articles make this mistake but it is a real and ongoing problem with Wikipedia. Please see WP:RELTIME.

Also please try to avoid completely locking articles to prevent open editing, when instead they could be set so that edits are flagged and require approval. Please keep Wikipedia open. -- 109.78.245.80 (talk) 19:44, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

Done This article is only semi-protected, for repeated vandalism by new and anonymous users (each time it's ramped up because almost all edits by new/IP users have been disruptive as soon as the article has become unprotected), though last time I was considering going to WP:RFPP with the idea of pending changes rather than complete protection (I opted to wait, and it got protected again before I could follow through on that idea). I'm pretty sure the best way to ask for a change in the protection level is to ask the protecting admin (that's TonyBallioni in this latest case); most people just reading this talk page probably have little if any power to do anything regarding protecting or unprotecting the article. Current protection will expire in 2.5 days as it is, so this might best be dealt with if the article needs protecting again. I have changed the "currently" in the lede to "as of 2017" (you weren't specific and it's late here so I didn't look through the article too hard for more instances). - Purplewowies (talk) 07:36, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

Main vs. lead

@IJBall: The reason I switched all occurrences of "Lead role" to "Main role" in the filmography table wasn't because I thought Sprouse for some reason needed a lesser credit in those two instances: it was because they are synonyms, but in the context of WP:TV, we split character lists up by main and recurring and guest, so it makes sense to use the same terminology here. I think you would be hard-pressed to find reliable sources that make a distinction between a "lead" role and a "main" one in the way you seem to be making a distinction, and even more hard-pressed to find a sufficient number that would then indicate Sprouse's role should be deemed "lead" and not "main" in those two shows. Or the one show. That's, to me, the beauty of just listing "main" and basing it on credits: there's no OR going on as to whether someone is a star vs. a supporting player. It also helps avoid the conundrum of what to do when the focus of a show changes, for example with Rob Lowe and Martin Sheen on The West Wing, where Lowe was originally conceived of as the star and Sheen was only going to guest occasionally and then it basically became the Bartlet show. If how we refer to someone is simply based on where they appear in the credits, it takes a lot of the subjectivity out of it. —Joeyconnick (talk) 02:46, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

The trades will actually make a distinction between "lead" and "main" roles (esp. in movies), but in some cases in television series as well. You can certainly find plenty of sourcing that describes Cole and Dylan as "starring" in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (as in, they are "the stars" of the show). But there's no WP:OR involved in the "lead" vs. "main" distinction, in this important respect: if you play the titular character(s), you're THE lead. Thus Hayley Atwell is the lead of Agent Carter (TV series), Dove Cameron is the lead of Liv and Maddie, and so on. Now if you want to argue that there is no lead for an ensemble series like Riverdale (TV series) or Blue Bloods (TV series), then I'm fully onboard with you. But if you're playing the titular character of a TV series, you're the "lead". There's no question that James Garner was the "lead" on The Rockford Files, etc. --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:27, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

Labeling these failed for now; neither have anything load in the page and I'm not sure why. I'll look into trying to find a proper archive after dinner but I'm not sure there's an easy way to fix it. - Purplewowies (talk) 00:05, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Should Lili Reinhart be added as Sprouse's partner?

Their relationship used to be just speculation but since this August it is official so I believe Reinhart should be added as his partner. Also they don't seem to be trying to hide it anymore so it wouldn't be against their will. Γιαννης Παπαδογκονας (talk) 12:57, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

I think its relevance (and whether it's due weight, etc.) would need to be discussed. Lili is not the first person he's dated; she's unlikely to be the last, and in my experience, Wikipedia doesn't generally focus all that much on impermanent/non-long-term relationships. (BTW, it wouldn't matter if it was against "their will" if it was something worthy of inclusion. Neither of them have any control over what is presented in Wikipedia articles about them.) - Purplewowies (talk) 20:42, 1 January 2019 (UTC)

Lili is not his spouse and therefore should not be added as his girlfriend. However should be added as a co-star for the teen drama Riverdale. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elizabeth Schuyler is still alive in my heart. Dah...dah...dah! (talkcontribs) 00:28, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse are not legally connected in any way, so I say no. TheHeck27 (talk) 20:48, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Cole Sprouse was in a diaper commercial when he was 8 months old.

Cole’s first TV appearance was in a diaper commercial with Dylan. I think this should be listed as his first role. TheHeck27 (talk) 20:51, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

We don't list that in the filmography because we don't know anything about it. It's mentioned in their joint article with the sentence "The twins first appeared in a commercial for diapers, switching on-screen time every few seconds." - Purplewowies (talk) 21:04, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Cole Sprouse two careers

Cole Sprouse is not only an Actor but his is also a photographer Sprousehartlover123 (talk) 10:50, 24 October 2019 (UTC)

That's mentioned in the article, though I'm pretty sure the reason it's not in the lead is because it's not the (excuse me, my brain can't talk in policy right now) Big Thing He's Known For. - Purplewowies (talk) 13:12, 24 October 2019 (UTC)

i just want to add something because this article is all wrong! -Actual Cole Sprouse Colesprouse real198 (talk) 00:25, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Not done - User is likely impersonating the subject in question (given the vast difference between Sprouse's writings elsewhere and this) and in any case (pushing my original research aside), the request is both vague and (dependent on the specific request) would be a WP:COI assuming this user is indeed Cole. - Purplewowies (talk) 00:46, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Lili Reinhart should be added as Cole’s Partner.

In the section of personal life it should say that “In 2019, Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart have announced their relationship and had been dating two years before that (since 2017).” Sprousehartlover123 (talk) 10:53, 24 October 2019 (UTC)

There's an earlier section on this page where the consensus is to not list it, and IMO, things haven't changed appreciably since that discussion, so I'm still of the same opinion I was then. Is there a new source I missed that would make it a good idea to add? (The phrasing is also a little awkward for an encyclopedia but if it were to have consensus to be added that could get hashed out.) - Purplewowies (talk) 13:09, 24 October 2019 (UTC)
I think the omission of Lilli Reinhart is a bit absurd. They have been dating for two years, which is a substantial amount of time. Even if they aren't legally linked, it is certainly notable and meets the guidelines for inclusion. For example, the personal life sections of Drew Barrymore, Selena Gomez, and Daniel Radcliffe all include both long term dating relationships (and some short!) -- all appropriate in context. Antlersantlers (talk) 18:11, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
That's a cogent point (though outside of Daniel Radcliffe, those articles are C-class (so not necessarily high-quality) and there's a small twinge of "other stuff exists" to this analysis). I (still) do think since prior consensus is not to include it, though, a (firm, policy/guideline based) consensus that it should be included needs to be established before it can be added. - Purplewowies (talk) 15:29, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

Not done @Blackmoon8755: Edit requests should bring up a specific change to be made to the article by someone else who has the user right that lets them edit the article, it's not to give you access to it. Also, it might be good to discuss what you want to add anyway, because some people have wanted to add things in the past that people have formed a consensus to leave out. - Purplewowies (talk) 09:05, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
