Criticism of neuropsychological approach
[edit]We have not yet covered the criticism of this approach. Because it is based on single case studies the models get more and more complicated. It is difficult to refute the studies. Also, as the models get more complex the heuristic and diagnostic value diminishes. (source: Psychology of language by Harley) ----Action potential discuss contribs 02:01, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. I think there is some work showing that double dissociations may arise from randomly removing X% of connections from a connectionist model, suggesting that double dissociations may not necessarily arise from the brain being modular. I will see if I can find a reference (Macleod, Pinker and Plunkett rings a bell ...but could be wrong). Finereach (talk) 19:12, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
