Scala Media synonymous with cochlear duct?
[edit]Hello, I found this page after searching for "scala media" as I'm learning about hearing for a "sensation and perception" class. The first sentence implies that the scala media is the membrane that surrounds the cochlear duct, but my professor's slides and other information I'm finding on the internet suggest that the scala media is simply another name for the cochlear duct. I'm thinking it might be best to edit the first sentence from "The cochlear duct (bounded by the scala media) is..." to "The cochlear duct (a.k.a. the scala media) is..." but I'm digging deeper into how these terms are used and checking out source 6. At the same time, the "Anatomy of hearing and balance" table at the bottom of the page says "cochlear duct / scala media." Meletao (talk) 20:32, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, so I just found the pdf for the relevant citation – Hayes, Sarah H.; Ding, Dalian; Salvi, Richard J.; Allman, Brian L. (2013). "1 - Anatomy and physiology of the external, middle and inner ear". Handbook of Clinical Neurophysiology. Vol. 10. Elsevier. pp. 3–23. doi:10.1016/B978-0-7020-5310-8.00001-6. ISBN 978-0-7020-5310-8. ISSN 1567-4231. – and the scala media is in fact the same as the cochlear duct, so I'm making this change.
