Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

[edit]

This whole section strikes me as not terribly interesting or notable. I'd like to see it cut back substantially or eliminated. Rees11 (talk) 02:51, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Purchase by the Coca-Cola Co.

[edit]

I suggest replacing the current paragraph with this one to clarify the terms of the agreement and reflect recent updates:

On February 25, 2010, The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) and Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) announced a transaction that will allow TCCC to acquire CCE's North American operations, and CCE will acquire bottling operations in Norway and Sweden, with a right to aquire German bottling operations 18-36 months after closing. [1] If the transaction closes, which is expected in the fourth quarter of 2010, CCE will become a solely European operation [2], but its headquarters will remain in Atlanta, Ga. CCE will be Coca-Cola's bottling partner in Western Europe and the third-largest independent bottler globally. [3]

Updated statistics

[edit]

In the overview at the top, I suggest updating the 2008 information in the last paragraph to information reported in Coca-COla Enterprises' 2009 Annual Report: In 2009, the company sold approximately 41 billion bottles and cans (or 1.9 billion physical cases). This representes approximately 16% of the total Coca-Cola worldwide volume. [5]

Purchase by the Coca-Cola Co.

[edit]

I'd like to see the first paragraph either removed or re-written. It is currently written as if this transaction has not closed, but it was complete on October 2, 2010 following Coca-Cola Enterprises shareowner approval [6].

Key People and Employees

[edit]

I suggest removing Steve Cahillane from the Key People list, as he is President and CEO of Coca-Cola Refreshments [7].

Now that the transaction with The Coca-Cola Company is complete, Coca-Cola Enterprises has 13,000 employees, not 72,000 [8].

Products

[edit]

Since the deal closed with The Coca-Cola Company, Coca-Cola Enterprises is a solely European-focused enterprise; therefore the products they produce and distribute have changed. In the first section, second paragraph, I suggest replacing the products with the following: Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Fanta, Chaudfontaine, vitaminwater, and Minute Maid. CCE also distributes beverages made by other companies including Dr Pepper, Capri Sun, Ocean Spray and Monster [www.cokecce.com].

Ownership of coke.com Internet domain name

[edit]

I heard somewhere that Coke had to pay $3 million dollars to organized crime to get the http://coke.com domain name. Is there a way to verify this? --Uncle Ed (talk) 20:57, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, is the "somewhere" you heard it from a reliable source? I'm going to venture that it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to verify such a thing if it were true. They're not exactly going to be sending out press releases on the topic of their dealings with organized crime - if they have any. But if you can find a reliable source that verifies this, then more power to you. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 22:12, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edits

[edit]

I made a few edits to this page. I removed Steven Cahillane from "key people" as he no longer works for CCE. I also removed some of the brands the CCE does not distribute and replaced them with brands that the company does have.

I would suggest removing the "Electric Truck" section, as CCE no longer has territory in North America.

I also suggest updating the financial numbers now that CCE's 2011 Annual report has been released - see www.cokecce.com.
