[edit]Since AFAIK he was almost never known by his full name, I propose moving this to Clyde Pangborn. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 00:01, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
First non-stop trans-Pacific flight East to West
[edit]Does someone have information about the first non-stop trans-Pacific flight from East to West? I'll also post this at the Miss Veedol page. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 12:27, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
nonstop trans Pacific flight miles accurate?
[edit]Here is what currently is stated regarding mileage:
…from Sabishiro Beach, Misawa, Aomori, Japan. Their destination was Seattle, Washington, just under 5500 miles[10] (8,500 km) away, a distance exceeding Charles Lindbergh's flight from New York to Paris by 2,000 miles.…
Does anyone else have a problem with this? A Great Circle flight plan calculated from Misawa Air Base RJSM (approx. 5 statute miles from Sabashiro Beach [takeoff]) to Pangborn airport KEAT (also about 5 statute miles from former Fancher Field [landing]) is only 3980 nautical miles (4580 statute miles). Their flight notes recorded that they intended a Great Circle path—which is substantiated by their noting of Aleutian and Queen Charlotte Islands land references. Not sure how 5500 miles could be have calculated for their trip. Jp2xs0n (talk) 22:43, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
