The "concept" section quotes no sources, but seems fairly accurate. However, this bit stands out: "lack of commercial success as a singer in a band". I'm pretty sure I've read Fish saying - and it's also supported by the lyrics - that Torch is a writer. Hence the references to the pen ticking away, and to Jack Kerouac.
