I came to create an article on Stretton due to his prolific railway authorship with some controversial fabrications. In the process it has become apparent he has been a significant figure in Masonry. This stub/start class probably doesnt due him justice. I also note there is possibly room for an article on Operative Masonry. Please feel free to improve. Thankyou. I have added a little to the article as there can be no doubt nowadays that Stretton concocted nonsensical material about railway history: the railway companies' archives are publicly available at Kew, so his work can be checked. I wrote an article about Stretton which appeared on pp 66-70 of 'Railway Archive' No 18 (Lightmoor Press, March 2008) which goes into things in much greater detail. But why he spent such a lot of time and effort on inventing detailed trivia about so many long-gone - or fictitious - railway engines remains a mystery.
