Why were these known as the "cleft chin" murders? Did the perpetrators and/or victims all have cleft chins? Was it metaphorical? This is a glaring omission. For all I know, the answer is well-known in the UK but for a more global persepctive, this information should be included. --Icarus 18:33, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are we sure that more than one of the victims actually died? Orwell's piece (here) says: "It was almost chance that the two people concerned committed that particular murder, and it was only by good luck that they did not commit several others". He says the taxi driver was killed, but it's not explicit whether the other 2 victims died or not.... Evercat 02:14, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleft Chin Murder

[edit]

There are plenty of google references to the name: http://www.stephen-stratford.co.uk/chelft_chin_case.htm states that the taxi driver had a cleft chin, hence the name. Note it refers to it as murder in the singular. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TheoGB (talkcontribs) 11:26, 27 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Page Re-Direct and Edit Proposal

[edit]

I've read more about this murder and the film made about it featuring Kiefer Sutherland and after re-reading Orwell's essay I am 99% certain that only one victim was claimed. I am going to create a Cleft Chin Murder page and edit the information with some cited refernces and redirect Cleft Chin Murders to there.Surferwoz 13:28, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

Where did this all take place? There is a lack of information regarding locations. FruitMonkey (talk) 18:01, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This all took place in England, as the page says more than once. —Paul A (talk) 05:56, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
England is a relatively large place. 24.164.163.77 (talk) 14:24, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The article no longer even mentions England all hint of a location or scene of a crime appears to have been removed from the article. Precisely where a crime takes place is a rather significant piece of information as it determines which legal jurisdiction investigates and prosecutes the case. Even saying London is not precise enough because are we dealing with the Metropolitan Police or the City of London Police, for example. So Where did this happen? - Cameron Dewe (talk) 11:49, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Near Staines in Middx. Quick ref added. --Mervyn (talk) 12:25, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
