Proposed move / rename

[edit]

Clear Lake, TexasClear Lake, Texas (disambiguation) — There actually is a town named "Clear Lake" so having this be a disambig instead of an article on the actual town is not really appropriate. Mcorazao (talk) 20:03, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And which town is that since it does not appear to be listed on the dab page? Vegaswikian (talk) 20:28, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The city of Clear Lake is not not currently listed on this page (there is currently no article about it). --Mcorazao (talk) 23:33, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
For clarity, the "movereq" template was perhaps not the right template to use. I wasn't sure what was. I simply wanted to advertise what I was proposing to make sure no interested parties thought I was sneaking behind anyone's back. I can go ahead and do the move and article creation myself. I wasn't really requesting that anybody do it for me unless you want to. I was just waiting to see if anybody screams. --Mcorazao (talk) 23:36, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I just went ahead and did the move myself. I have also relinked pages that were pointing here (which should not have been pointing to a disambig anyway. --Mcorazao (talk) 00:39, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dhope58 (talk) 16:38, 28 January 2011 (UTC)There is a Clear Lake, Texas in Collin County supposedly near a "Lake Lavon" near Dallas. There is also a lake named "Clear Lake" near the Johnson Space Center just off the Galveston Bay south east approx 20 miles south east of Houston. Halfway between Houston and Galveston, Texas.[reply]

When someone used Clearlake, Texas as their "current city" on Facebook the link used to refer to the wikipedia Clearlake, Texas near Lake Lavon in Collin County. Now that same wikipedia link now refers to a ClearLake near Lake Lavon in Collin County but, also says it is in the Houston Metroplex which is definitely incorrect!

There should probably be 2 ClearLake, Texas options on Facebooks " Current City" list however, I do not know how to add a 2nd one. I would suggest the following 2 "Current City" options on Facebook leading to 2 different Wikipedia ClearLake, Texas references.

1). The original Clearlake, Texas town in near Lake Lavon in Collin County near Dallas.

2). The other could be referenced as "Clear-Lake, Texas" halfway between Houston & Galveston. This "Clear-Lake" is not actually an incorporated town but, a Lake named "Clear Lake" near the Johnson Space Center. This Clear lake is actually located to the south in Galveston County and to the north in Harris County. This "Clear-Lake" is actually surrounded by 9 towns or cities: Clear Lake City, Clear Lake Shores, El Lago, Kemah, League City, Nassau Bay, Seabrook, Taylor Lake Village, and Webster. Please refer to the following 2 URL's to learn more about the "Clear-Lake, Texas" near NASA's Johnson Space Center: A). http://www.texasexplorer.com/clearlake.htm B). http://www.clearlakearea.com/

I have spent all the time on #2 because I live in this "Clear-Lake, Texas and do not know much about the one near Dallas. In fact, if anyone knows, I would love to know why the town near Dallas is named "Clearlake" since it is not near a lake named "Clear Lake" but, supposedly near a lake named "Lavon"? Hope this clears a few things up. Any help on how to add a 2nd "Clear-Lake" to the current city options on Facebook and an additional Wikipedia reference link from Facebook for "Clear-Lake, Texas" would be appreciated. My email is dhope58@gmail.com Thanks!Dhope58 (talk) 16:38, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I noted that there has been recent edit activity on this article but no new talk entries. I'm not sure if anyone had any intentions of expanding it. I do have interest in this place because it is a location where some of my genealogical research lies. I'm not sure at this point how Clear Lake got it's name but I'm certain it has nothing to do with Lake Lavon which is result of the United States Army Corps of Engineers building of the Lavon Dam across the Trinity River in 1954. I made very major edits to this article and hope I haven't stepped on the intentions of another contributor. I will be adding more information over the next few days.
