Amusing detail
[edit]I wrote (the first version of) this article after seeing Dansey mentioned in Charles Stross's novella The Concrete Jungle: "By the abjuration of Dee and the name of Claude Dansey I hereby exercise subsection D paragraph sixteen clause twelve." DS (talk) 01:28, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
Described by Hugh Trevor-Roper, who worked under him in WW2, as "a snob, a bully, and a shit" - Hugh Trevor-Roper: The Biography, Adam Sisman, Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 2010, p 93. 31.185.145.71 (talk) 23:14, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
There is a lot more!
[edit]This is a shockingly meagre bio for anyone who has the time to add too it. There is plenty of reliable published info, see the footnotes, Christoper Andrew would be the most reliable there, but there is a lot in 'Colonel Z' too. Not in the footnotes is Keith Jeffery's official history of SIS which is the place to start. I know this as my dad was 'Z2', but I don't have the time to add to it — Preceding unsigned comment added by C.cohen (talk • contribs) 13:19, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- Actually my dad was probably Z1 as Dansey was Z rather than Z1. The date of his ejection from SIS is not findable, I know a lot of serious historians in this area and all are dfeeated. His 'K' was 'gazetted' 2 June 1943 C.cohen (talk) 09:14, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
