General
[edit]I went through the article and tried my hand at a copy-edit.
- Make sure you don't miss linking such terms as WHL Bantam Draft and World U17 Hockey Challenge. These are big ones that need linking.
- Try to avoid phrases like "seeing time in.." (beginning of Professional career) and "got off to a fast start" (beginning Maple Leafs paragraph). I was prone to these too until I had repeated FACs fail due to prose issues.
- Try to be as concise as possible. A good example is in the first paragraph of the Professional section. After establishing that Rochester is the AHL team, you don't need to keep mentioning both in subsequent sentences (same for Sabres and NHL). Also, words are frequently repeated in the same sentence (ie. "During the 2005-06 season, MacArthur played his first full professional season.." & "Canada captured the gold medal at the tournament, after defeating Russia 6-1 in the gold medal game."
- Thanks for catching these.
Junior hockey
[edit]- Ref 7 redirects to the Memorial Cup home page.
- Is this the scoring leaders one? It takes me to the correct link.
- "He also grew seven inches.." Seems awkward and sudden. Perhaps "After growing seven inches.."? Also, does the ref mention in what span of time he grew that much?
- Fixed it up - it just said during the season, so that is what I went with.
- ...as a WHL rookie. After his rookie season..." Rephrase to exclude mentioning of rookie is succession.
- Check.
- How did the Tigers do in the Memorial Cup?
- Adding - lost in the semi-final.
Professional hockey
[edit]- Mention that he started the 2006-07 season in Rochester.
- Check
- Stats for 2006-07?
- Check
- The quote about his signing with the Leafs isn't really mentioned in the right context. It's something he said several months after the signing, which also makes it sound awkward because the phrase leading up to the quote and the quote itself are both in past tense. If you want to go into detail about the signing, maybe mention how he didn't expect the Thrasher to re-sign him or something of the like mentioned in the reference.
- Fixed that up a bit with a different intro to the quote. Its about him signing with the Leafs, but I think its clearer now that he said it in retrospect.
Other
[edit]- Though it's not required for GA, it'd still be nice to inclue an alt text for the lead picture.
- Agreed, and done.
- Lead could use some expanding. Ie. how did he transition from team to team in the NHL?
- The Minor career section is quite short. I know a lot of NHL players articles have these subsections in the Playing career, but I find it out of place sometimes. Maybe fuse the Minor career and Personal life sections together under an Early life heading to go before the Playing career? See: Cody Hodgson or Kirk McLean.
- I'm torn on this. I am hopeful that with a bit of a breakout season (and playing in TO, more information will become available (lots of the material is from Toronto papers this season), so I'd like to leave both sections as is. They are short, but I've never been a fan of having the personal life / early life section at the top of an athlete's bio. I like to start with what they are known for.
- Medal table -- I've seen this in many articles, but it always bothers me when I see it. Some elements of the table seem redundant:
- Men's ice hockey vs. Ice hockey
- Second mentioning of Ice hockey following "2005 Grand Forks"
- Removed the second mention of Ice hockey, I had never noticed that before. I left in "men's", maybe its because I am a women's hockey fan, but I like it in there.
Not too much to take care of.. good luck! On hold for now.
- I think I got everything taken care of. Please let me know if I have missed anything, and thank you very much for the review. Canada Hky (talk) 23:06, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- Looks good. No worries on the Early life section suggestion and leaving in "Men's".. those are just matters of preference for me. Passed! Orlandkurtenbach (talk) 02:55, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
