This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because.... it indicates that the subject was a top executive, and there's a Forbes profile and another source in the article. I believe that the subject was president of Prudential, a huge firm, or its U.S. operations (i.e. of part of Prudential Financial?, not of U.K.-based Prudential plc which is incorrectly linked from the article). But the assertion of importance is there. It's a matter of interpretation maybe. Anyhow, I also browsed and see there are some other sources; this should not be speedy deleted. I am not the creator but removed the speedy tag, a third editor re-added the speedy tag. Take it to AFD if you like. --doncram23:38, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Prudential plc appears to be correct. He worked for its US subsidiary, Jackson National Life. I can't find any coverage that's not about his leaving Prudential (Forbes and a couple other similar profiles notwithstanding); therefore, I'd support deletion per WP:ONEEVENT. This is a minor issue about the article. In this edit, another editor removed some summary description of Jackson National Life and of Prudential plc (about their size) from the article-in-progress, with edit summary "irrelevant". I see your point; the article is not about those entities. But to me it does seem necessary/important to establish in the article that the entities are very major, as part of establishing importance of Clark Manning. As you see, I restored the info, but moved it to a footnote. Is that okay, as a compromise, for now? I would plan to further edit to make a distinction between note-type footnotes vs. source-type footnotes, as is done in many featured Wikipedia articles, but I would have to look up how to do that first. Please let's discuss this minor issue here. respectfully, --doncram17:58, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! You may well be right that it isn't necessary, but it helps me for now while developing the article. It may be reconsidered later, after AFD is completed, if article is kept. I applied the efn and notelist templates, thanks for saving me time in trying to find those. --doncram23:56, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
